My husband and I are French, raising our little girl in Ireland. We speak French to her and are keeping it consistent. We just recently realized that our daughter becomes totally mute when we are in a situation we have to speak English. At first we thought she was just being shy, but we realized that if we had French visitors she was fine, but didn't like if we were talking in English. She would stop talking completely for a good 35 minutes and not even say things like hello and thank you.

We're trying to give her some space in this case, but we'd love to hear if someone had a similar experience.
