In the UK there is a scheme called Bookstart which is designed to put children into contact with books from an early age. When your child joins the library, or starts nursery they get a couple of free books. I recently discovered they also provide foreign language books for bilingual children if you let them know you are raising your child bilingual.

My little girl was given a bilingual book which lead me to this publisher http://www.mantralingua.com/
They publish bilingual books in about 40 languages (some of which I must admit I've never even heard of!). The books are lovely and having the text in both English and Polish is really helpful to me.

Also, when my librarian discovered that there were no Polish children's books in the library she promised to order some as soon as there was some money in the coffers!

Hope this is useful to someone else!
